ENCROACHMENT

Miles Brennan builds a prosperous real estate career by selling the soul of Denver one block at a time. He finds a way to justify every decision he makes, whether it’s demolishing a historic church or displacing long-time residents. Little by little, Miles drifts further away from the person he once was. Through it all, he convinces himself that he’s on solid ground. But when a reckless, drunken night behind the wheel leaves a man dead, the false life he's constructed finally caves in.
The threat of incarceration sends Miles on the run, forcing him to abandon his career, his pregnant wife, and any chance at redemption. He flees to Mexico, where, out of his element and desperate, Miles accepts help from a man whose reach and ruthlessness make refusal impossible. This partnership forces Miles to travel onward to Cuba, where, in the silence of his exile, he finally confronts his past. Miles realizes that though there is no promise of freedom, no guarantee he will see his baby, and no assurance of forgiveness, his only choice is to return home.
